Kuala Lumpur (KL) is without a doubt, a bustling metropolis not commonly known for its lush greenery and scenic landscapes. Instead, you’ll find that massive traffic congestions, crowded spaces, and oftentimes unbearable noise pollution are the norm here — certainly a far cry from the tranquil ambience of nature.
However, it shouldn’t be construed that this concrete jungle is without its own natural charm. Surprisingly, you’ll find hiking trails in and around the vicinity of the city to explore if you’re looking to take a break from the frenetic pace of the city.
Look no further than Broga Hill — an idyllic hillside which is also the perfect spot for sunrise watching.
The Perfect Spot To Watch The Sun Rising Over The City
If you’re an early go-getter, then this hill located just outside KL is for you — the spot offers one of the best places to view the sunrise near the city.
In particular, Broga Hill is one of the most popular destinations among nature lovers, hiking enthusiasts, and shutterbugs alike. And watching the twilight skies slowly light up in orange hues, along with the emergence of the sun is deffo worth waking up at the crack of dawn for.
If you’ve decided to take on the hike to catch the sunrise, then you’ll most likely have to start your journey in the wee hours of the morning, typically around 4.30 am — armed with torchlights, headlamps, and appropriate footwear, of course.
The hike itself up the hill is a relatively easy climb with a low gradient incline. Though, you should be aware that there are steep challenges along the way to keep your heart racing. And at only approximately 400 metres high, the whole journey to the top will take only about an hour depending on your fitness level.
Once at the top, take a deep breath and enjoy the charming view of the countryside against the backdrop of the sunrise. Worth it!
